Shakaskraal doctor determines to rebuild practice torn apart by looting
She lost all her medication, equipment to the value of R510 000 and she will have to spend about R24 000 rebuilding her surgery.
Shakaskraal doctor Nivasha Naidoo was left heartbroken when her surgery was torn apart by looters last week.
Dr Naidoo is part of the Ushaka medical centre where the rooms of the dentist and physiotherapist were also damaged.
“The entire medical centre which serviced many is completely ruined. But we are not deterred,” said Dr Naidoo.
She has been operating in the little town since 2011 and she is currently trying to get insurance to pay for losses.
“I have 3 staff who will find it difficult to find work elsewhere, so I am going to rebuild and get back stronger. There will be a decrease in salaries but not for long.”

Among the equipment she lost was an ultrasound machine and medicines to the value of about R50 000.
