Thompson’s Bay reopened for bathing after sewage spill
This was confirmed by the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM), who today reopened the beach after conducting water testing.
Four days after Thompson’s Bay was closed owing to a sewage overflow, the beach has been reopened for bathing.
This was confirmed by the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM), after conducting water testing.
The initial sewage spill on Monday was caused by excess sand entering the sewer system which blocked the pipe and forced an overflow, said Siza Water operations manager, Kobus Fourie.
He said KDM would be installing a sand trap at the site in order to prevent such an issue from reoccurring, as per Siza Water’s request.
