Missing teen presumed drowned at Blythedale
The boy got into difficulty while swimming before his friends lost sight of him.
Lifeguards had already knocked off duty when a group of teens went swimming at Blythedale main beach earlier this evening, during which a 19-year-old boy went missing.
A search was launched at around 6pm by paramedics, police and KwaDukuza lifeguards.
It was reported that the teen got into difficulty while swimming before his friends lost sight of him.
“Rescue crew conducted extensive searches including deployment of an unmanned aerial vehicle.
“The search was suspended due to loss of light,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
The search will resume in the morning.
