Balwin donation a huge boost for Orphan Fund

A huge R100 000 donation has provided a significant boost for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and the children they support.

The Balwin Foundation, the charity wing of Balwin Properties, handed over the sizeable cheque at the Courier offices on Monday morning.

“Since its inception in 2016, the Balwin Foundation has been specifically focused on education, by offering bursaries, scholarships and loans. That is why we think the Orphan Fund is a perfect partnership for us,” said Balwin Foundation regional manager, Cindy Mkhize.

“Since the advent of Covid-19, the foundation has changed the way it supports organisations to maximise the impact of their donations and partnerships.

“Instead of supporting a number of random individual fundraisers, we would rather hold off our support until we can provide a substantial donation to a worthwhile organisation,” Mkhize said.

Given the touchpoints that exist between the Balwin Foundation and the Orphan Fund, it made for a natural match.

“We are beyond grateful for the generosity of the Balwin Foundation. The funds have a direct impact on the scope of work we can do as the Orphan Fund, and a donation of this magnitude will make a sizeable difference,” said Orphan Fund co-ordinator, Mpume Vilakazi.
