Mother and baby swept away by Umvoti River
Search and rescue teams have deployed a drone and a K9 search and rescue dog to aid in the search.
Search and rescue teams are searching the Umvoti River near Groutville today for a mother and her baby who were swept away while attempting to cross the strong-flowing river this morning.
According to Paul Herbst of Medi Response, two adults crossing the river nearby witnessed the mother and baby being swept away and alerted authorities.
Herbst said rescue teams have deployed a drone and a K9 search and rescue dog to aid in the search.
“At this stage there have been no positive results and the search is ongoing,” he said.
