Military veterans request exhumation of comrades’ bodies
The lack of medical support for members suffering from ill-health and disabilities sustained during the liberation struggle was also discussed.
The local Umkhonto Wesizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMVA) has pleaded with the African National Congress leadership to help them exhume and repatriate the bodies of commanders who died in exile.
They raised the issue during their meeting with the ANC regional leadership and provincial executive committee (PEC) representative Peggy Nkonyeni on Sunday.
Nkonyeni asked to meet with the MKMVA to hear their grievances and consider how the ANC leadership at both regional and provincial levels can assist.
The association also addressed the issue of unemployment of some of its members and the miserable living conditions they and their dependents are exposed to.

Nkonyeni asked the MKMVA members to allow her some time to report their grievances to the PEC and undertook to have a response within a month.
