Post office calls for updated, certified documents to renew car licences
The post office said it was introducing measures and increasing the team working on licence renewals to keep up with demand.
With a high demand for renewing car licences, South Africa’s postal service (SAPO) is encouraging car owners to upload documents which comply with legal requirements.
SAPO spokesperson, Johan Kruger said that if people wanted to renew their licences and avoid any unnecessary delays they should make sure to upload certified copies of their IDs.
Documents needed to be in order and no older than 3 months.
“The full renewal process, including payment, is done online, leaving only the last step of accessing the actual disc,” Kruger said.
For R75 additionally, licence discs can be delivered to customers. Otherwise these can be collected at the post office at no charge.
“Payment is done safely and securely through Masterpass, which the user can download from the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for Apple devices.”
