Eskom ramps up loadshedding stage 2 frequency after Medupi breakdown

After the initial announcement yesterday afternoon of loadshedding between 9pm and 5am for Monday to Wednesday, Eskom changed the loadshedding frequency only a few hours later after the breakdown of a unit at Medupi power station.
Loadshedding will now continue throughout the day until Wednesday morning at 5am.
Units had broken down at Matla, Kendal, Matimba, Kusile, Grootvlei and Medupi power stations causing a collective loss of 15 200MW, while planned maintenance already removed 6 300MW from the grid.
Eskom appealed to its customers to reduce their usage of electricity.
Loadshedding times:
Ballito grid affected on Tuesday: 10am to 12.30pm and again from 6pm to 8.30pm.
KwaDukuza grid affected on Tuesday: 10am to 12.30pm.
Tongaat CBD affected on Tuesday: 6pm to 8pm.
Tongaat Beach affected on Tuesday: 6pm to 8pm.
Mandini affected on Tuesday: Midday to 2.30pm and again from 8pm to 10.30pm.
