Stage 4 loadshedding as Eskom experiences further breakdowns

Stage 4 loadshedding is set to take effect at 9am today after Eskom announced the failure of additional power generating units overnight.

Stage 4 loadshedding will continue until 5am on Friday morning, and then be lowered to stage 2 until 5am on Monday morning.

“A unit each at Kendal, Duvha, Camden and Kusile power stations tripped overnight,” Eskom said.

“Although four other units have been returned to service, output has not reached the desired performance levels, necessitating a high usage of emergency reserves.

“This being the fourth day of extremely high diesel usage, the emergency reserves are being depleted faster than they can be replenished.”

Eskom appealed to customers to reduce their usage.

Stanger northern grid:
9am to 10.30am and again from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Ballito Southern Grid:
9am to 10.30am and again from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Mandini:
10am to 12.30pm and again from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Tongaat Beach:
9am to 10am, 4pm to 6pm and again from 10pm to midnight.

Tongaat CBD:
9am to 10am, 4pm to 6pm and again from 10pm to midnight.
