Pick up those sticks and help clean these North Coast beaches

Pick Up Sticks is the latest beach clean-up initiative on the North Coast, and the public is invited to join the cause on Sunday at 7.30am.

The North Coast Coffee Club, in conjunction with the KwaDukuza municipality, Zippy Skipps and Dolphin Coast Waste Management, need help to clean up 3 local beaches plagued by organic waste and litter which has been washed downriver.

The beaches to be cleared are Tiffany’s Beach, Salt Rock Main Beach and Little Maritzburg Road Beach.

Organiser Lauren de Klerk said while she applauds efforts by locals who have already started clearing beaches of litter, more still had to be done about the piles which had been left behind.

“Each site will have a Zippy Skip at the meeting point as well as a representative to guide and advise on the process,” she said.

“We urge community members to keep Sunday open and bring families, friends and neighbours along.”
