Art for art’s sake

School's arts festival focus on speech and drama.

Crawford North Coast Preparatory recently held their inaugural Creative Arts Festival (CAF).

The focus this year was on Speech and Drama with a new additional section of Afrikaans included in the programme.

Pupils from grade one through to grade seven were given the option to participate in a variety of categories including individual poetry, group poetry, monologues, duologues, dramatic scenes and sight reading, with each class also performing a choral verse.

The response this year was overwhelming and the standard was exceptionally high as a number of pupils achieved Prestige, Honours and Gold awards.

In due course, a CAF Awards assembly will be held in each phase, at which certain pupils will receive medals for excellent achievement in the creative arts.
