All smiles at Protec annual awards

Celebrating their academic achievements.

Protec Tongaat hosted their annual awards day on Monday, November 30 to celebrate the academic achievements of its pupils over the course of the year.

Protec is a maths, science and technology career development and enrichment programme that prepares young people for successful entry into science, engineering and technological careers.

The annual awards day offered pupils and staff the chance to share in a celebration of the children’s achievements in the school’s three core subjects – mathematics, physical science and English.

Protec branch manager, Marion Takis thanked all the stakeholders for their support, especially the school’s donors, which, she said has enabled Protec Tongaat to not only survive over the past 24 years but also grow, extend and enrich their programmes.

“We hope that you can feel how deeply grateful the pupils are for being given the opportunity to attend Protec. Thanks to your support, our pupils are given hope and the promise of a better future,” said Takis, who also congratulated the young adults on their determination and perseverance in overcoming the many challenges they faced and urged the grade 12s to continue striving to be the best that they could be.

“Remember, the road to success is seldom an easy or straight one, so do not let the fear of failure cripple you. When you fall, remember that ‘F’ stands for feedback, an opportunity to find your mistakes and fix them so that you can forge ahead and follow your dreams.”
