Painting with words

The poetry competition was part of an English literacy project run by Kwa-Phenduka projects and funded by the African Bank Development Trust.

Twenty grade 3 and 4 children from schools in the KwaDukuza region took part in a poetry competition where they bravely recited their work with grand gestures and great expression.

The competition was held at Albert Luthuli Museum on Wednesday, July 28. An entertained audience responded with laughter and applause.

Winning the competition in the grade 3 division was Nondumiso Mgabhi from Melville Primary School and the grade 4 winner was Amahle Mbatha from Dr BW Vilakazi school.

The poetry competition was part of an English literacy project run by Kwa-Phenduka projects and funded by the African Bank Development Trust. The project brings technology and games into the classroom to add energy and fun into learning foundation English.
