Ashton reigns supreme at Reddam House Festival of Hockey

The school's four indoor and outdoor hockey first teams went unbeaten.

Ashton International College Ballito boys’ and girls’ indoor and outdoor hockey teams returned to the North Coast as champions of the Reddam House Umhlanga Festival of Hockey.

All of the Ballito school’s 1st teams went unbeaten over the three-day competition to take home the gold medals in Umhlanga.

The girls’ outdoor 1st team registered three wins and a draw on the way to the final against Thomas More College. A tense game ended 0-0, with Ashton’s girls holding their nerves to win the penalty shootout 2-1.

Ashton’s girls’ 1st team claim another piece of silverware after winning Reddam’s hockey tournament.

It is the 1st team’s third tournament success after winning the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge at Our Lady of Fatima and the 2025 Belgotex Sport Easter Hockey Tournament Shield title in April.

The girls’ indoor 1st hockey side enjoyed an even more dominant tournament run, winning two group matches and the final against the hosts without conceding a goal.

It was the team’s first final since losing to Maris Stella at Thomas More College Girls Indoor Summer Series Tournament in February.

On the boys’ side, the outdoor 1st team won three and drew two of their five group matches. They beat Reddam Bedfordview in the semis before toppling Reddam Umhlanga 2-0 in the final.

The boys’ indoor side won two and drew one game on the way to the final, where they once again beat Reddam Umhlanga, this time 1-0.

Kaiden Webster was awarded the Most Valuable Player.
Callum Lingley was awarded his 50th cap during the tournament.
