A good takeaway is all about speed, so first things first. How long did the take to deliver? From the time I picked up the phone until the delivery guy knocked on the door was 32 minutes. Perfect timing in my books. Any takeaway delivery that takes over 45 minutes starts to get annoying, so they did very well. I do think in season you might wait a bit longer due to traffic but we will have to wait and see.
Judy who took our order was very friendly. She knew her menu and specials and made sure she had the order right. We had the ‘three for two’ deal which is two pizza’s and get a third traditional free. This is fantastic value for money. We got six pizzas for R290, a bargain at less than R50 each. The pizza’s were very good. I do prefer a wood fired pizza but Scooters isn’t trying to be that, it is a takeaway and should be judged for what it is. The bases are well cooked, browned and cooked through. The pizza have a good balance between base, tomato, toppings and cheese. I wasn’t a huge fan of the chicken mayo as I found the mayo a bit artificial tasting. I think next time I will replace it with perinaise. The pizza that won me and all my fellow tasters over, was the four seasons with salami, mushroom, onion, olives, peppers and feta. It’s a classic combination and is well worth a try.
Scooters are very flexible with regards to substitutions as long as you swop out with the same type of topping (meat for meat and veg for veg). They also have a selection of subs, wraps and pizone’s. There are tables outside so you can enjoy your meal there. After this experience of Scooters I will definitely be eating there again (even if its just to indulge in their delicious bar one and banana melt).
