Well done to the municipality in preparing the Ballito tidal pool before the festive season by removing sand and repairing the hand rails.
Unfortunately this was not followed up by the police to stop unruly drunken behaviour in this area during the festive times as on three occasions I had to remove broken beer bottle glass from the sand inside the pool where one enters at the end of the hand rails.
Well done to the municipality for eventually filling in the huge pot holes in Marion Road in Ballito after well over two years of neglect.
I contacted the Umhlali police on three occasions on Monday December 30 to complain about the unlawful letting off of loud firecrackers late on Sunday and Monday night. On the third occasion when I phoned I was told the police were on the beach at Salt Rock – not Ballito.
It seems as if there were inadequate police numbers to stop unlawful behaviour during the festive season. Maybe the police should temporarily employ some unemployed people over this time of year and give them police uniforms to carry out community service with the minimal allowable pay. Just the presence of police walking the promenade should curb the unlawful unruly behaviour
