Let conscience be your moral compass
In response to threats made by certain Africans against Indians and whites exploiting workers, I do concur that there are lesser than greater exploiters, some out of necessity, others out of sheer greed, but my reading is that a lot of African employers have been exploiting African employees over a long period of time. In response to threats made by certain Africans against Indians and whites exploiting workers, I do concur that there are lesser than greater exploiters, some out of necessity, others out of sheer greed, but my reading is that a lot of African employers have been exploiting African employees over a long period of time.
Remember it’s not only the state’s responsibility to assist the underprivileged, but society at large.
We should start from the cabinet down to the lowest civil servant to contribute monthly, annually to a social upliftment “moral fund”.
A million union members contributing a minimum of R25 a month equates to almost R25 million per annum. Take the black diamonds for example, approximately four million of their members contribute something like R50 per month which is something like R40 million a month, that is a whopping R48 million per annum. Then there are the business class, industrialist, property owners etc the list is endless – millions in the kitty!
As a conservative estimate, I’d say a figure of about R700 million per month will have a total contribution of about R8 billion per annum. What about the bankers, shouldn’t it be payback time now? How about offering interest-free loans to the needy? After all most major banks are promoting Islamic Shariah banking products, you are loaning money that you “don’t” have.
Hey big four “go for the show” and “follow the flow”, there’s almost 20 million South Africans in debt, 10 million impaired. Where there’s morality there’s equality and dignity, let your conscience be your moral compass! There’s no need for poverty, not only in South Africa but through the world if people are willing to share. Eat two slices less a day by filling a needy belly. To the affluent I say share your wealth with the people after all they are your wealth.
In our grief at the passing of our great president the late Mr NR Mandela, lies the opportunity to show unity forgiveness and compassion to our downtrodden masses. What better way than to follow the example of our late president who I am given to understand, donated his entire salary to charities, also the late president of India the Honourable Lalbadadur Shastri. There are numerous silent benefactors but I would liken Mr. Mandela’s actions and practices to the “practices of prophets”. What a great honour that we have had that calibre of a man in our midst worthy of emulation. No I don’t suggest that you give your salary to charity, but share!
The almighty Allah quotes in the Holy Quran that he had sent prophet Mohammad (peace of God be on Him and all prophets before Him) not but as a mercy to mankind. The best amongst you is he who serves mankind. Pay your employee his due before his sweat dries, after all without him you are “wealth less” or “worthless” to him.
Allah has promised in the Holy Quran the more you give the more you reap. No doubt every religion teaches you human dignity and to share. To our African brother I say strive for unity of purpose, human dignity and engage peacefully. We appreciate and applaud the thousands of volunteers and donors in charitable organisations serving mankind in South Africa and many African states. We salute you.
So now share more and feel the joy and satisfaction of sharing, so how about a black diamond’s charitable organisation to assist needy people of all races? It the right thing to do, you see it works both ways.
To the disgruntled, I urge you to engage reasonably and peacefully, remember no labour no wealth but the danger is absolute poverty. So let’s live and let live and let sanity prevail.
Let’s hear from you!
