#Letter: Grateful for cat support

"One of the companies that responded to my request for a new 'cat catching device' was Chris from Scotsmen Woodwork & Joinery" - Lisa Smith.

Lisa Smith of Ballito writes:

When you help and oversee a feral cat colony, there are so many factors involved.

One major one is needing to catch the cats for sterilisation purposes.

It takes a lot of time and effort with many highs and lows as you can never anticipate how it is going to go.

After doing a little research, I desperately wanted to have a box made that the cat could walk into to get some food, and with me standing close by to shut the cat in and head off to the vet.

The request was to have handles and some breathing holes in the box.

Naturally, it is a terrifying experience for a feral cat to be captured, so to do it as quickly as possible is best and a little less painful on the human heart.

One of the companies that responded to my request for a new ‘cat catching device’ was Chris from Scotsmen Woodwork & Joinery.

Not only did he offer to help but made the most magnificent cat box with a latch and rope handles.

It is just perfect and I truly admire their craftmanship.

It has been so beautifully made, that it can be used as a kennel as well – once all of them have been caught and sterilised.

I am truly thankful for Scotsmen’s support with this project.
