#Letter: No regard for road safety

"I have seen this causing accidents, and motorists I have spoken to at traffic lights suddenly dropped their phones like they were hot pieces of charcoal"- Dominic Souchon.

Dominic Souchon of Salt Rock writes:

In response to The North Coast Courier’s focus on road safety issues, I would like to add my 2 cents’ worth.

I used to ride my motorcycle all over because it was light on fuel, but the number of people I encountered driving while texting on their cellphones was unbelievable.

I have seen this causing accidents, and the motorists who I have spoken to at traffic lights suddenly dropped their phones like they were hot pieces of charcoal.

These people were all in vehicles with Bluetooth connectivity.

Until people start being fined by traffic police, the accidents will continue to happen and more lives of innocent people will be lost.

Another serious problem is the utter lack of respect for stop streets.
