I refer to your article “Docrra’s tireless work recognised” (August 26).
It is great to see some recognition for this emerging entity and the growing local support manifested by the record full house attendance at Docrra’s recent annual general meeting.
At long last there is a growing sense of coming changes and a need to do something. Fortunately, as a community, we have many individuals and groups who care and in their own way get stuck in covering many aspects that underpin our quality of life. These groups and individuals work tirelessly with little recognition.
We take them for granted but if we were to remove them their absence will soon become apparent.
By their very nature they are fiercely independent, and it is this independence that gives most of them their inspiration and energy.

As a legal and respected ratepayers association, Docrra not only looks after our interests locally (their impact is increasingly apparent in Ballito and Umhlali), but also serves as a unifying and supportive platform for the various independent groups and our other ratepayer associations in Zinkwazi, Blythedale, Stanger and Tinley Manor.
As we move towards an environment of political change and growing grass roots initiatives, the importance of this unifying platform becomes increasingly important.
This is not a fund-raising drive, it is about “getting into the scrum” (sorry, its rugby season again) and adding your vote that contributes to the stature and credibility of an organisation whose time has come.
Joining is super easy, their website address is: www.docrra.co.za.
Taking care of our community is a team game and it is now time for all of us to get off our sofas. Your help is needed. Encourage your friends to join as well.
