ICAM chairman Walter Schotter writes:
The iLembe Civic Action Movement (ICAM) appreciate the continued support the community has shown in our efforts to promote civic engagement and accountability within our local government and public service institutions.
Recently, we have become aware of rumors circulating in the community suggesting that our organisation has political aspirations.
This inaccurate and misleading.
ICAM is and remains apolitical. Our primary mission is to serve as a civic action body, advocating for transparency, accountability and the responsible delivery of public services.
We are committed to holding local government and institutions accountable to their mandates and ensuring they serve the best interests of our community.
We would like to assure the community that our focus remains steadfastly on non-partisan civic engagement. We do not endorse or support any political party, nor do we have any intention of becoming one.
We encourage anyone with questions or concerns about our organisation’s goals and principles to reach out to us directly.
Transparency is one of our core values, and we are always open to constructive dialogue and feedback.
