Ballito’s Ward 30 councillor Jack Abrahams writes:
We are very fortunate on the Dolphin Coast to have so many people, organisations, civic bodies and other movements that make our community a better place to live in.
We have civic organisations that work with councillors in trying to improve service delivery and get the basics rights. These civic bodies also attend council meetings, mayoral imbizos, Integrated Development Plans and other meetings for oversight on public funds.
Then we have neighbourhood watches and community policing forums that keep our community safer by playing an active role by being the eyes and ears for security companies, the municipality and police.
There are also the NGOs that assist with the rescuing of animals, big and small. Often these rescue organisations have large debt due to the vet bills and feeding animals in need, but they keep rallying on for the love of it.
Recently a group of ladies have decided to adopt a beach amenity. Not for the fame, but simply because they want to keep Ballito the beautiful place that it is. This is much appreciated as the beach had just recently obtained Blue Flag Status.
To all the other gender based violence, feeding schemes, charity organisations, individuals, we salute you for the work you do in our communities by keeping this a great place to live in.
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable festive season.
