#Letters: Accountability in public office is crucial

Bad news has been pouring in like a tsunami recently and more needs to be done to stem the tide.

Ballito resident Clive Stein writes:

The wave of bad news hit me once again when I opened the Courier newspaper on Wednesday, February 12.

Bad news is like a tsunami and just keeps on coming.

My heart goes out to the family of the late Mandeni ward councillor Phendukani Mabhiba for his bravery and honesty.

Two songs came to mind as I read the articles, ‘Gone with the wind’ and ‘I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts’.

It is time for people to start voting with their heads and not their hearts… start voting out the incompetent and give other right minded people a chance to correct the ills of the past and the present.

Stealing in high places has become so easy and at such a pace that law enforcement just cannot keep up.
