#Letter: iLembe IEC urges residents to register for upcoming elections

The national voter registration weekend will be held on June 20 and 21, ahead of the local government elections on November 4.

iLembe IEC regional outreach officer Skhumbuzo Kweyama writes:

The iLembe branch of the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is well underway with preparations for the upcoming voter registration weekend.

Registration officials in KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Ndwedwe and Maphumulo were recently trained to verify voter identities, operate registration equipment and maintain accurate voter records. The national voter registration weekend will be held on June 20 and 21, ahead of the local government elections on November 4.

The training aims to ensure registration activities are conducted efficiently, transparently and in line with electoral standards. The IEC encourages all eligible residents to make time to register and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
