You can leave your hat on!

A fun walk event for everyone.

The Dolphin Coast Striders are getting into the festive spirit and encouraging all locals and holidaymakers to join them for their Charity Christmas Hat Walk next week.

Kicking off on Wednesday, December 16 from Salt Rock Country Club, this jolly five kilometre stroll through the streets aims to bring together the Dolphin Coast community and raise money for underprivileged children.

Entry into the event is R100, which will secure you your place and a festive event t-shirt to wear on the day. All t-shirts were sponsored by RE/MAX, while all proceeds raised through the entry fee are set aside for the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.

Over 200 people are expected to turn out for this merry meander, who will all be seen striding through town in their Santa inspired head-gear as they take Salt Rock by snowstorm.

Striders chairman, Barry Holland said they are hoping to raise in excess of R10 000 for the Orphan Fund this year as part of the club’s wish to give back this Christmas.

“It is great to have so many people coming on board and joining Striders, which has become a real community club and our aim is to keep growing our Christmas walk as an annual event that will be well represented by the community,” said Holland, who hopes locals and tourists alike will take part.

This Christmas fundraiser will start at 8.30am, with all entrants asked to wear both their event t-shirts and a Christmas hat as a show of support. Coffee, tea and snacks will also be available to participants at Salt Rock Country Club once the walk has ended.
