Disabled shine in Stanger

Hopefully the other district will be joining next year.

Thousands of disabled people from six of the ten district municipalities flocked to Stanger High School to compete at the 2017 inter-district disability games on Friday.

They competed in chess, Jukskei, Mlabalaba (traditional two-player strategy board game), table tennis, goal ball, athletics and aerobics, wheelchair races, netball, football, and wheelchair basketball.

Ntombenhle Masondo from Mandeni said she felt happy to be part of the sports day and getting a chance to compete and interact with other disabled people.

“I just wish that our district can provide us with equipment to regularly play sport. It must not be a once off event. We need more events like this,” said Masondo.

The games, started by King Cetshwayo andIlembe district last year and AmaJuba, Umgungundlovu, Umkhanyakude and Ugu district municipalities joined for this year’s games.

Hopefully the other district will be joining next year.
