Dawnheights in rampant form

Dawnheights made light work of reaching the target in only 10 overs, with Wassim Suleman (40) and Dylan Subrayen (22) leading the charge.

Dawnheights A scored a convincing win over Flipside CC in a local 30-over cricket game at Gledhow grounds on Saturday.

Flipside won the toss and chose to bat first, but was bundled out for 69 runs in the 24th over. Dawnheights bowlers doing the damage were Shriyan Naidoo (2/3), Sheldon Maduray (2/13) and Fadel Moosa (2/16).

In reply, Dawnheights made light work of reaching the target in only 10 overs with Wassim Suleman (40) and Dylan Subrayen (22) leading the charge.

The Dawnheights veterans side travelled to Chatsworth to take on the tough Chatsworth Sporting outfit who boasts former Dolphin players Desigan Reddy and Yusaf Abudullah, who also played for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

Sporting won the toss and put Dawnheights in to bat. Openers Mags Iyer and Syed Rizvi got them off to a flying start, scoring a quick 31 before the first wicket fell.

Dawnheights eventually scored 190 runs in their allotted 30 overs, with Rizvi 68 (6×4 and 5×6) and Adhir Maharaj 50 (6×4, 1 x 6) the top scorers.

Chatsworth Sporting folded to 87 as bowlers Mags Iyer (4/30) and Adhir Maharaj (3/6) had the batsmen in all sorts.

The Dawnheights vs Newlands CC match on Sunday was rained out.
