Village Kidz

Happy children thrive!

At Village Kidz each child is treated as an individual with his or her own talents, needs and dreams. It is a fundamental aim of the school that the children are happy, and it becomes obvious that this is achieved when you visit them. As children hone their skills to enter good primary schools, they also benefit from a broad and creative curriculum.

“We think we have a good balance of work and fun,” said principal Tanya Lawson.

“Our teachers and curriculum are carefully crafted to ensure the highest levels of early childhood development from 12 months to Grade R.”

They structure the curriculum around the CAPS programme, ensuring the children a smooth entry into primary school. The phonics programme they follow is Letterland and the numeracy programme is Numicon. All classes have weekly age appropriate second language Zulu and Afrikaans lessons. Included in the curriculum are unique, top class intramural classes, such as Garvlings, music and PSHE (UK based Personal, Social, Health and Environmental education programme). Extensive extramural activities take place after school and cater for all the children’s needs.

Village Kidz is located on a remodelled homestead and as such the classes are nestled among the trees where there are ample grounds for the children to play and interact.

“We find that parents of pre-schoolers prefer this environment to an institutional setting characterised largely by bricks and mortar.

“We are currently one of the more affordable preschools in Ballito, offering a holistic school programme, which includes a healthy lunch and aftercare,” said Lawson.

They plan to keep their fee structure on the low-end.

The school has a range of unique facilities, such as a full-size sports field, Mini-Mamba pump/scooter/bike track where the children have the opportunity to race around the hilly course; music room, drama hall and library that complement the traditional preschool environment. In 2018 they opened a brand-new state of the art, senior phase facility, which has been designed specifically for four to six-year-olds.

The best way to find out more about Village Kidz is to go and visit them.
