Shopping trolley laden with loot recovered

Local security patrollers thwart the escape of a brazen house robber.

A BRAZEN robber was caught red-handed with his loot yesterday morning after security patrollers spotted the suspicious man pushing a trolley with two plasma screen televisions along the M4 north-bound (near the La Lucia Mall).

When the security unit approached the suspect he attempted to flee. However, the reaction officers were able to detain the alleged thief.

“After questioning the suspect our team decided to check an address in Braemar Avenue (which was on the plasma screens). It was discovered that the property had been broken into via a bedroom window at the back of the property,” said Tyron Powell,  of Marshall Security.

The suspect as well as the stolen TVs were transported to the Durban North SAPS.

Following the arrest the stolen goods were linked to the housebreaking incident. Police also confirmed that the man had been arrested and convicted previously for numerous other crimes.
