Armed suspect fatally wounded in Park Hill house robbery
The suspect allegedly attempted to stab the caretaker of the home with a pair of scissors when he was fatally wounded.
A HOUSE robbery suspect was fatally wounded in a tussle with a caretaker during an incident in Park Hill on Monday, June 29.
Greenwood Park police are investigating a case of house robbery and have opened an inquest docket following the incident.
eThekwini District police spokesperson Captain Carmen Rhynes said the incident, which took place at about 06:00, involved a caretaker and the intruder.

“SAPS members were flagged down by a member of the community who reported that an unknown man had entered the premises where he is employed as a caretaker. According to the preliminary report, the caretaker confronted the intruder inside the kitchen area. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly attempted to stab the caretaker in the left arm with a pair of scissors.
“The caretaker allegedly acted in self-defence, during which the suspect sustained a stab wound to the chest. The suspect fled the premises but collapsed on the roadway a short distance away, where he succumbed to his injuries,” Rhynes said.
The deceased is believed to be 28 years old and his identity has not yet been confirmed.
