Fifth suspect arrested in Hillary Gardee murder case

A man in his 30s was taken in for questioning by the police on Sunday and was subsequently arrested.

A Nigerian national has been charged with defeating the ends of justice in connection with the murder of Hillary Gardee.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said the man, who is in his mid-30s, was taken in for questioning on Sunday August 14 and was subsequently charged.

“He is linked through the cellphone and laptop of the deceased and is expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, August 17 (today),” said Mohlala.

The arrest comes shortly after an alleged serial killer, Hlabirwa Rasie Nkune, appeared in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court briefly on Monday, having allegedly been linked to the murder of Hillary Gardee and three other women in Mpumalanga this year.
