Ladies golfers give back to community

The Durban Country Club's ladies' golfers give back to various charities.

THE Durban Country Club’s ladies’ golf club held a golf day in May in aid of Durban-based charities, raising a whopping R90 000 on the day.

At the handover on Thursday 18 July, Anette Pritchard, the ladies’ golf captain, said it was a fitting day to hand the funds over to the various charities, as it coincided with Mandela Day.

“Nelson Mandela has always felt strongly about the welfare of children,” she said.

This year, the ladies’ golfers looked at supporting various smaller charities when Anette read about Justin Foxton’s uMhlanga Baby Home in Northglen News.

Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World also came to the party, making a donation to one of the charities, Vukukhanye.

The charities that benefitted from the golf day were Vukukhanye, TREE, Cannan Crèche, Domino Baby Home (formerly Fairhavens Baby Home) and the uMhlanga Baby Home. For more information about these charities, visit www.looklocal.co.za under North Durban uMhlanga.
