Stepfather sentenced to life in prison
A stepfather will serve a life sentence in prison after he was found guilty of raping his stepdaughter.

A STEPFATHER of 36 was sentenced to life imprisonment by KwaDukuza Regional Court for rape on Wednesday 7 August.
Between 1 and 31 August 2012, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather in the Umhlali area.
The matter was reported to the police by the victim’s aunt and a case of rape was opened.
“We welcome the sentence and are pleased that another monster, who preyed on defenceless women and children, has been removed from society,” said KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
“This is a victory, not only for the SAPS, but for all vulnerable women and children in this country. The court could not have passed a more fitting sentence and this will certainly send out a strong message to other criminals,” she said.
