A SNAKE, thought to be a spitting cobra, is on the loose along uMhlanga’s beachfront. Durban North snake man, Jason Arnold says he has been called out on three occasions to capture the elusive reptile which has so far given him the slip.

“Everytime I have gone out, its proved difficult to find. The people that reported it said there are a few rats around so that could have drawn the snake to the area.

“They have described it as a browny gray snake about 1 to 2 meters in length. From the description it sounds like a spitting cobra. I’ve found quite a few in the northern parts of uMhlanga like the Hawaan Forest, so it would not be highly unusual for one to stray so far from the forest.

Arnold said he had found a snake skin along the beachfront but it belonged to something much smaller than described.
