Three alleged murderers nabbed by local police
The three men who held up a Sea Cow Lake family in April, fatally stabbing one of the family members, have been arrested.

JUST days after Vitesh Sewpaul of Sea Cow Lake was murdered when three robbers held him, his wife, Asand up in their home in April, Constables Nhlanhla Mhlongo and Mzothule Ngubane tracked down the murderers and arrested all three.
At the time Greenwood Park SAPS reported that on 11 April three knife-wielding men stormed the couple’s home and forced them, with their mother in tow, into their bathroom. A struggle ensued and Sewpaul pulled out a gun in an effort to chase away the knife-wielding robbers. One shot was fired, but hit no one. The robbers then took the gun from Sewpaul.
Sewpaul was stabbed four times, twice in the chest and twice in the back, during the scuffle and died later in hospital.
Cst Mhlongo and Cst Ngubane followed up leads for three weeks after the murder before making any arrests. Their dedication paid off when an informant lead them to the whereabouts of one of the robbers.
According to the police the constables found the man and arrested him at an informal settlement. The arrested suspect then lead them to the other two robbers, one in Estcourt and the other in Mount Moriah.
Both suspects were arrested within two days and questioned by the constables. The suspects told them where they had dumped the gun, which the officers found buried behind a shack.
Police then held an identity parade and all three suspects were pointed out by the witness.
“This is excellent work by the two constables who tirelessly followed up leads which led to the arrest of the three suspects,” said Cap James Becker, acting spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS.
