LOVE them or hate them selfies are here to stay. Both celebrities and the average Joe have followed this 21st century trend by bombarding fellow social media users with their ostentatious self-portraits.

A recent study, conducted by eBay Deals, dubbed the twerking pop princess, Miley Cyrus, as the queen of Twitter selfies. Analysis of the social website indicated that she had posted more selfies than any of her fellow celebs on Twitter.

Cyrus had posted 221 selfies on Twitter, while her closest competitor, Tyra Banks posted 62. Kendall Jenner earned third place with 35 posts and Demi Lovato fourth with 32.

Women seemed to dominate the charts as the highest male competitors was cheeky comedian, Russel Brand, with 12 selfies.

Now, if the number of selfies seem a bit low it is because Instagram has become the preferred social media site for uploading selfies.

Although these celebs boast can boast with the tittles of ‘top selfie posters’, Ellen DeGeneres and actor, Bradley Cooper have bragging rights to the most famous Twitter selfie – dubbed, Ellen’s Oscars selfie.

The star studded selfie, taken by Cooper at the Oscar’s rehearsal and posted on DeGeneres’s Twitter account was retweeted more than 2 million times, and temporarily caused the social media site to collapse. It featured a crowd of celebs, including Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
