Armed robbers target liquor store

Two armed men posing as patrons robbed a liquor store of R18 000.

TWO armed robbers held up a liquor store on Tuesday, 9 December at 6pm in Springfield Park.

The men entered the store pretending to be customers, and then suddenly brandished firearms, demanding money.

The staff at the store complied with their demands and they fled the scene with approximately R18 000, said W/O Lutchman Singh, acting communication officer at Greenwood Park SAPS.

Last week a similar incident was reported where two thieves entered a garage, and held up two cashiers and a security guard. The duo also entered the store, pretending to be customers.

It is believed that they were armed with a gun, but the witnesses were unable to confirm. Singh said investigating officers do not believe that the two cases are related.
