Mount Edgecombe accident leaves one dead, 17 injured

Road littered with debris after after a fatal crash this morning.

A WOMAN in her thirties died while 17 others were injured when a taxi overturned on the R102 near Northern Drive  in Mount Edgecombe this morning. The accident occurred at about 6am. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha,  paramedics found the road littered with metal and other debris from the taxi.

“One passenger, a woman, tragically died in the accident. Two people were critically injured and 15 others were seriously injured. Paramedics stabilised the wounded at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals,” Botha said.

He added that details as to what caused the accident will be investigated by the police.
