Gardener brutally assaulted and robbed

A local gardener was robbed of his belongings, including his shoes.

A GARDENER (35) was attacked and robbed of his belongings by four men on Delaware Avenue on Thursday afternoon. He sustained serious injuries to his face and head during the brutal assault. The incident occurred at about 5pm.

According to Tyron Powell of Marshall Security, the gardener was leaving work when he was confronted by four men.

“They surrounded him and began beating him. They took a bag of groceries his employer had given him, his shoes, his cell phone and wallet. During the assault they asked for his bank card pin, which he gave them in fear of the severity of the assault.

“He was taken to Addington Hospital and is in a stable condition. The four men fled in the direction of Virginia Bush and managed to escape,” Powell said.

Cases of assault and robbery have been opened at the Durban North SAPS station.
