Beach access upgrade in uMhlanga

The construction commenced today, and will include the erection of a mall platform with balustrades, which will better serve the heavy traffic at the access point.

FOR the next three days the beach access point in front of the Breakers Resort in uMhlanga will be closed while the municipality conducts an upgrade.
The construction commenced today, and will include the erection of a mall platform with balustrades, which will better serve the heavy traffic at the access point. The hope is that the improvements will reduce the impact that foot traffic has on the surrounding dunes and vegetation. New benches will also be provided.
While the contract has been allocated a two-week period,  the contractor will endeavour to complete the project ahead of schedule, said the uMhlanga UIP in a statement. The beach access will be closed to the public from Monday, 13 April. This closure is to ensure the health and safety regulations are complied with, they added.
Sections of the deck will be opened to the public once the construction is partially complete and safe.
