Gang posing as municipal workers target Durban North home

Alert resident refuses to let men pretending to be municipal workers onto his property.

AN alleged gang posing as eThekwini Municipality water department employees, who attempted to gain entry into a Durban North property, were thwarted by a vigilant resident last night. According to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, three men driving a silver Mercedes Benz C Class model had arrived at a property in High Ridge Road at around 8.44pm.
“The men pretended to be from the eThekwini Water department and approached the home owner, asking whether he had a problem with his water meter. One of the men then turned the switch on the water meter but then drove off after the resident refused to let them onto his property.”
Jackson advised residents to be wary of people at the gate claiming to be contractors or municipal workers.
“We also strongly advise residents to regularly remind their domestic workers to be security conscious and to not open up the gate or door for anyone, unless they have been previously informed that a contractor is expected on site,” he said.
