Vehicle flips, ‘errant’ driver runs away

The driver and passenger escaped the accident unhurt and ran away before paramedics arrived.

THERE is still no sign of the driver and passenger of an accident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the accident was near the glide-off from the M4 (north-bound) onto the M41 near La Lucia Ridge.

Paramedics suspect the driver had had lost control of the vehicle at high speed, colliding with a street lamp before flipping several times.

“Based on the mechanism of injuries and extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of the vehicle, it is remarkable the occupants survived.

“The car has since been impounded and, according to bystanders at the scene, the driver and a passenger were picked up by another vehicle,” he said.

Durban North SAPS confirmed that the vehicle was not stolen.
