N2 accident leaves two dead, three injured

Truck runs over bakkie passengers killing two, second truck overturns to avoid collision.

TWO people were killed while three others were injured in an accident on the N2 south before the M25 off-ramp this afternoon. According to reports, which are conflicting at this stage, a bakkie with people sitting on the back and two trucks were involved.

According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the passengers jumped out the back of the bakkie, fearing a collision with a truck behind them. However, when they jumped off the moving vehicle, two men were struck and run over by the heavy goods truck.

“Another truck tried to avoid the accident and veered off the road and overturned. Three more passengers were injured in the accident. One man was in a critical condition while the other two men sustained serious injuries,” he said.

Traffic was severely affected.
