Update: Peace restored at UKZN Westville campus

THE SAPS has confirmed that that the situation at UKZN Westville campus remains calm after yesterday’s running battles between students, police and campus security.

Westville police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property and public violence following vehicles and property being damaged by protesting students.

“Two suspects, aged 21 and 24, were arrested and will appear in court soon. We can expect more arrests as the investigation progresses,” said Colonel Jay Naicker, spokeman for SAPS.
