Driver crashes trying to escape hijackers

The accident occurred on the R102 near King Shaka International Airport.

A MAN has been injured after he overturned his car on the R102 near King Shaka International Airport.  Reaction Unit South Africa’s spokesman, Prem Balram, said it is believed the man was trying to flee hijackers when he lost control of the vehicle.

“On arrival Reaction Officers established that the vehicle overturned hours earlier when the driver attempted to flee hijackers. The vehicle overturned off the northbound lane heading towards Tongaat.

“RUSA has been informed that the driver is in hospital after suffering injuries. This could not be confirmed. A police reflective jacket was found in the vehicle,” he said.
