Mall management says no weapon used in robbery
Details surrounding the robbery of a woman at La Lucia Mall are being contested.

LA Lucia Mall centre management have released a statement regarding the alleged robbery of a woman on their premises on Monday. The victim said she was robbed of R3 000 by a man armed with a knife. However, mall management say the story told to them was vastly different.
“A staff member of a tenant of La Lucia Mall reported to centre security that her sister was swindled out of several hundred Rand in an alleged scam involving two males, who purportedly lured both her and her sister out of the store in which they were working to sell them clothing out of a car in one of the centre’s carparks.
“The carpark is situated adjacent to one of the centre’s anchor tenant’s receiving bay and service yard. Contrary to press reports, there was no mention of any weapon being used, nor any violence being inflicted by the alleged perpetrators on the alleged victim when this was reported to security on Monday. Centre management is doing everything it can to assist the SAPS in their investigation of this incident,” the press statement said.
They added the details of the circumstances surrounding the robbery vary significantly to what was initially reported to security at the mall.
