Police find stashed AK-47
A community tip-off alerted police to the stashed rifle.

THE members of the Greenwood Park crime prevention unit recently recovered what is believed to be a stashed AK-47 assault rifle in Crown Road, Kenville.
W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station, said the recovery was made after police received information from the community regarding a ‘suspicious parcel’ lying in the bush near the roadside.
Upon investigation, police discovered the rifle with one magazine and 24 rounds, he added.
“This is a perfect example of the community working closely together with SAPS in the fight against crime. The AK-47 is a weapon of choice for business robberies, house robberies and cash-in-transit heists. Many criminals will hide firearms in close vicinity or in the area the are planning to rob. These concealed firearms are then retrieved by the criminals and used in the crime,” he said.
