Oscar’s manslaughter conviction upgraded to murder

The decision means the former Paralympic gold medallist could return to jail for at least 15 years.

OSCAR Pistorius’ manslaughter conviction has been upgraded to murder, which means he could return to jail for at least 15 years. Pistorius, now guilty of murder, is currently out of prison under house arrest. The appeals court are sending “Blade Runner” back to jail for killing his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day two years ago.

June Steenkamp, the mother of Reeva Steenkamp, was in the court room today to hear the judges rule, in a unanimous verdict, that the 29-year-old was indeed guilty of murdering her daughter.

State prosecutors who lodged the appeal say Pistorius intended to kill Steenkamp and that she fled to a toilet during a row. Pistorius denies deliberately killing Steenkamp, saying he mistook her for an intruder at his home.
