Support Swimathon for CANSA at Northlands Primary
The Midmar 8 Mile Charity Challenge fundraiser is being driven by a north Durban family in support of CANSA Active.
THE date for the annual Cancer Association of SA (CANSA) Swimathon has been set for Saturday, November 7, at Northlands Primary School.
The event, scheduled from 09:00 to 17:00, supports fundraising efforts for the Midmar 8 Mile Charity Challenge for CANSA and is open to anyone, whether you are a seasoned swimmer or want to support the cause and join the fun.
The swimathon is being driven this year by local residents and father-daughter duo Lance Fraser and Ashleigh Clarke.
Clarke has called on individuals, families, schools, companies and community organisations to join them in the water.

“It’s a fun event for anyone. If you can swim for 30 minutes, that’s all you need to do. It’s not competitive, and participants can choose to swim individually or in a relay,” said Fraser.
Clarke emphasised CANSA’s ongoing need for community support.
“CANSA works tirelessly and receives no government funding. Almost everyone knows someone affected by cancer. By coming together, we can make a meaningful difference,” she said.
The family first hosted a CANSA Active Swimathon four years ago, drawing 100 swimmers of all ages and it is growing annually.
Younger participants who cannot manage the full 30 minutes will be assisted in the pool by Fraser and other helpers. Businesses are invited to sponsor lanes, make a donation, sponsor prizes etc.
Volunteers are also welcome. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and the day will feature raffles and spot prizes. For more information or to enter, contact Clarke at events@vfs.co.za or WhatsApp on 083 288 5745. |
