Virginia Airport theft leads to arrest

Alert staff and security nabbed would-be robbers at the airport.

TWO suspects have been arrested after a daring theft at Virginia Airport on Tuesday afternoon. Police say that three men and a woman were involved in the theft.  Three of the suspects entered the airport and two of the men went upstairs. One of the staff then noticed his laptop had been stolen, he alerted security who helped nab one suspect, while he subdued another suspect.  According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at around 11.30am.

“Two of the suspects were apprehended while the third suspect, who was armed, managed to get away. He was spotted running towards Virginia Circle. The female accomplice, who was waiting in the parking lot in a getaway car, drove off without him. The stolen laptop was also recovered,” he said.

Police are still searching for the two suspects, who remain at large.
